The KALLA Scholarship Program was created in response to the high college dropout rates in several provinces in Eastern Indonesia in 2021, such as Central Sulawesi (6%), South Sulawesi (6%), West Sulawesi (4%), and Southeast Sulawesi (8%). This data comes from KEMENRISTEKDIKTI’s Education Statistics for 2022.

This program aims to provide assistance in the form of UKT Scholarships (single tuition fee) and social and academic capacity building activities to prospective recipients. Until 2022, Hadji Kalla Foundation has helped more than 700 students at various universities in 4 provinces of YHK Working Area, namely South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi. The total value of assistance in 2021-2022 reached 3.3 billion Rupiah.

Funds for the KALLA Scholarship program come from Zakat and Infaq managed by Hadji Kalla Foundation. The hope is that through this program, the foundation can help reduce the college dropout rate in the 4 provinces of the work area and create graduates who can contribute positively to society.
